OUR MISSION:
Giving The Edge Foundation's mission is to help young people to grow into
successful, caring, responsible, & productive
adults by building partnerships and community support. We achieve this through providing opportunities for youth to engage in community service projects, character development, scholastic achievement activities, and supporting our youth's social and emotional needs.
HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Positive Behavior Incentives
Students are nominated by peers and teachers to be recognized for exemplary behavior. We provide recognition and prizes for awarded students; including 'mini field days', certificates of honor, school spirit t-shirts, gift cards, and other fun perks! Giving the Edge Foundation currently assists 10 QAC schools in their positive behavior incentive programs.
Field Day
Our field day initiative ensures that Queen Anne's County students have a meaningful field day experience. We provide shirts for all students and staff, coordinate on-site volunteers and provide volunteer opportunities for high school students, and create program layouts for activities. We take pride in expanding this program each year to impact as many students as possible!
Community Events
Part of our mission is to bring the community together in meaningful ways. At community events like Bounce into Winter and Monthly Acts of Kindness, we create fun and free ways for our community to come together. These events also provide opportunities for high school students to give back to the community through volunteering.
Leadership Cohort at KIHS
This program was created to give students an avenue to strengthen and display their leadership skills with their peers. With a heavy focus on finding out who they are as individuals, students are able to use this knowledge to discover what they can contribute to their community. Members hold monthly 'Lunch & Serve's to get all students involved in giving back & spreading positivity on campus.
Scholarship Opportunities
In our Win The Day Essay Contest, we invite students to express themselves through their writing by explaining what "winning the day" means to them. Both middle and high school students are honored throughout the year and awarded with scholarships for having a true understanding of what "winning the day" means and living each day with a positive mindset on how to achieve this daily goal.
